What is Site Refiner ?

Site Refiner is the utility designed for so-called "refining" local Web Sites before upload them to a Web Server. Often after uploading a site the following problem appears: during accessing uploaded site by any web browser, some images and links are become invalid, "bad". General reason of this problem is that the most web servers make distinguish between lower and upper symbol cases in file names, while operation system in which this site has been designed (such as MS Windows) interprets all cases equally. Web-designer, especially beginner, often does not pay attention on this till uploading his site to a server. Then it could be a big and routined task to find and repair all of links and file names in a site, especially when it containts a big number of pages.

The main purpose of Site Refiner is to automatically find all files and page links in local site and bring them to the same specified case (usually to the lowercase). Site Refiner can do it fast and correct.

How does it work ?

Site Refiner scans specified directory for files and web pages (in HTML format). Depending on its settings, it can change the case of any file and directory has been found. Also Site Refiner can scan and change links in all found pages in site to the same case.

The technology of finding links in HTML pages is based on link extensions list. After reading every HTML page, Site Refiner tries to find within it links to files with specified extensions. It may be not only the <A href='...'> type link, but any link which corresponds to some file such as image source, etc. After the link has been found, it will be "refined" according to rules established by you.

Site Refiner already "knows" extensions of many files usually used in sites such as HTML pages, CSS, images, archives, media files an so on. Also, you can add to its extensions list any extension, disable or enable existing ones.

• more flexible options of scanning and refining pages, customizable extensions list;
